What is a thesis statement?

A thesis statement:

  • takes a position
  • is supported with research readily available
  • is expressed in one sentence

In order to write a thesis statement you will need:

  • a topic/subject
  • your opinion on it
  • reasons/evidence to back up your opinion

Once you have formed your opinion about your topic, list 3 reasons and evidence to support your opinion.
